The Challenge

Fundación Global Nature is a Spanish foundation working on nature conservation and sustainability. Like many organizations in the sector, it had started using AI tools in its day-to-day work before there was a clear framework for how to use them. With the EU AI Act phasing in obligations and GDPR already applying to any personal data those tools touch, the foundation needed to know which rules applied to it, set out how its teams should use AI, and keep the documentation that shows it.

Our Approach

We run the work as a compliance program with three workstreams. Regulatory obligations: mapping how the foundation uses AI and identifying what the EU AI Act and GDPR require for each use. Internal policies: writing the rules the teams work by, including acceptable use, data handling and human oversight. Technical documentation: producing and maintaining the records that support those obligations, so the foundation can show how its AI use is governed.

Key Deliverables

Analysis of regulatory obligations under the EU AI Act and GDPR
Internal AI policies for the foundation's teams
Technical documentation supporting compliance
Ongoing compliance advisory

Impact

The foundation is building a clear, documented basis for using AI: it knows which obligations apply, its teams have written rules to follow, and the documentation is kept up to date as the regulation phases in. The program continues as the EU AI Act's obligations take effect and the foundation's use of AI evolves.
